Purse made from old leather jacket.
I developed a new design to fulfill a customer's request for a bag to carry his mason jar to work. I used the sleeve of an old leather jacket and added padding to protect the glass jar. He liked it so much, he ordered two more with details for stylish women.

This is my first work with repurposed leather. I had a well-worn leather jacket with a beautiful red color. My previous work has included drawing images, creating molds and cutting from fresh leather to create the pieces to construct a bag. I discovered that repurposed leather is different. I look at the established lines of the jacket and begin to imagine how an old article can create new and beautiful objects.
Mini-skirt
This mini-skirt was the front half of the jacket. I added leather pieces to create a snug waistline and sewed it together mostly by hand.
Purse
This purse was developed using the sleeve of the jacket.

Finally, these bracelets are the jacket's wide collar.
